If you're into travel memoirs, this one certainly falls into the realm of a classic.
A Walk Across America follows the journey of Peter Jenkins, a young college graduate from a sheltered upper-class East Coast family, as he backpacks his way across 1970's America in search of meaning for himself and his country. While his writing can be considered average at best (often times his book reads like a 1st grade easy reader), the memoir proved to be somewhat inspiring with excursions into the deep south, antidotes about the bond between man and his dog, and explorations into religion and love.
